After various months of adiminstrative detention in the Zionist prisons, finally the Israeli pacifist activist Tali Fahima has been formally charged and will be tried in criminal court.
Tali Fahima has been detained since August 2004 for active solidarity with the Palestinian cause. Until her detention, Tali was a militant together with Palestinian refugees in the Jenin camp, scene of one of the worst Zionist massacres of the last few years.
The charges brought against her by the Zionist State are, among others, "aiding the enemy in times of war": Tali, a systematic opposer of the Zionist State's policy of "selective assassination", offered herself as a "human shield" to protect one of the Israeli targets, Zakariya Zubeidi, after an attempt on his life failed. Even worse, she is accused of "providing information to the enemy" because Tali translated for the Palestinians a document forgotten by the Zionist soldiers after an incursion into the Jenin refugee camp, in which is detailed a list of Palestinian "targets" for "selective assassination". Thanks to this action, none of them have been able to be eliminated.
28-year-old Tali, like several thousands of Palestinian prisoners, spent several months under "administrative detention", without criminal charges being brought against her, or any kind of due process. She found herself virtually kidnapped by the Zionist intelligence services, who have submitted her to extremely harsh "interrogations".
Tali Fahima is detained in a confinement cell. For defending her rights as a detainee, she is subjected to "disciplinary process": a small cell in solitary confinement, without authorization to receive letters, books, periodicals; neither can she purchase in the prison canteen such elementary articles as toothpaste or soap. The brutal conditions of detention to which she is subjected are a "warning" to the growing mass of Israeli activists struggling against their own government in solidarity with the rights of the Palestinian people.
The Zionist courts are preparing to condemn Tali Fahima for her political solidarity with the Palestinian struggle. We demand her immediate freedom and that of all the political prisoners in the Zionist jails.
